The Single Leg X Guard is one of the best No Gi guards you can play. To defend the position, your opponent will usually try to clear your foot on their hip which frees up their legs. This can be very tricky to deal with and you need to act accordingly, or your opponent will pass.
One of the best options to use when your opponent clears their hip is to transition to the modified Single Leg X by placing your under their leg and stepping on the hip. This adjustment gives you good distance control and can allow you to easily off-balance your opponent or sweep.
Episode 59 of 2 Minute Jiu Jitsu covers a variation of single leg x guard and how to user the back sweep from there. Check it out and let me know what you think.
