No Gi Copenhagen Open Match Breakdown

Last weekend, I competed for the first time in over 18 months. It’s been a long time since I’ve competed, mostly because of all the other things going on in my life, but it was great to get back on the mats.

Below is a break down the final from the No Gi division against a tough black belt from Carlson Gracie London — although it seems a little silly that we both went all the way to Copenhagen to fight each other!

There’s a bunch of stuff you can take away from the video, in particular, watch out for the back take. I used it in almost all my fights last weekend.

Things to watch out for:

  • How Lee uses Single Leg X and X Guard to stay underneath me
  • The leg work I use to counter Lee’s guard
  • My counter and sweep to the Double Under Pass
  • The way I take the back
