The Triangle is one of the most effective submissions in Jiu Jitsu, not only is it incredibly difficult to escape once locked in, but you can set the Triangle up from almost any position.
As the triangle is such a popular submission, BJJ players often get very good at recognising when they’re in danger from the attack. So if you want to be effective with the triangle it’s essential you have solid setups that are difficult to defend.
The Chain Link grip is a way of setting up the mounted triangle from side control that allows you to isolate your opponent’s arm and maintain excellent control. The wonderful thing about this grip is it works because your opponent is using correct side control defensive positioning making it very unexpected.
