The Tripod Sweep is a seriously old school sweep and has been around pretty much as long as Jiu Jitsu.
However, just because it’s a technique you might learn on your first day of BJJ training doesn’t mean it isn’t effective. In fact, when used correctly the tripod sweep can be deadly.

The key to making this sweep work is in the setup, you need to maintain the tension between the grips and your legs throughout your attack. Once you master that, the attack becomes very difficult to defend.
