Do you feel lost when rolling?
Imagine stepping on the mat with the confidence you know what to do no matter your opponent or the position you find yourself…
When you start Brazilian Jiu Jitsu it seems like a massive subject. There are so many different positions to learn and so many techniques to master. On top of that, you’re expected to perform those techniques against a fully resisting opponent.
No wonder, you commonly hear BJJ players complain “I don’t know what to do?” or “I feel lost when rolling” or “I didn’t know which option was best”
… and it’s completely understandable and can be incredibly frustrating.
However, it doesn’t have to be that way. What if you had a road map of what you needed to do from each position and no matter how your opponent reacts? Jiu Jitsu would become simple.
Simplifying your Jiu Jitsu
That’s exactly what happens when you create a high percentage BJJ game plan.
No more worrying if you’re making the right move.
No more second-guessing yourself.
No more waiting for your opponent to act.
Regardless, of where you end up (whether it’s a good position or bad) if have a plan, you’ll know what to do.
Don’t get me wrong, submitting your opponent will still be challenging, after all, no one wants to get submitted, but you’ll have a clear plan of what to do and how to reach your goal.
There are two ways to create a game plan…
So how do you create an effective grappling game plan? It really comes down to one of two options.
Option #1: You can go build one through trial and error over several years.
Option #2: You get someone to help you to build your plan.
While both ways work, option two is by far the fastest and least frustrating. Someone that’s experienced in game planning can show you where to start, how to avoid making it too complex, and the right areas to focus on.
That’s exactly what I’ll help you do on the Virtual Game Planning Mastermind and so much more. But before we get into that, you might be wondering who I am and why you should listen to me.
Why should you listen to me?
My name is Tom Barlow, and I’m considered to be one of the best British-born Jiu Jitsu competitors ever.
What makes this amazing is, I managed this without regular supervision of a Jiu Jitsu instructor.
My training was limited to an hour or two PER MONTH with my instructor, Braulio Estima, and practicing with my students and friends at my Academy.
One of the reasons I have been so successful as a competitor is because I recognised the importance of game planning early in my Jiu Jitsu career.
It’s because of game planning, systems, and a good work ethic, that I got my Black Belt in around five and a half years and won numerous Jiu Jitsu competitions, most notably, the No-Gi World Championships as a Black Belt three years in a row (2013/14/15)
A big part of my success was due to game planning and having solid systems to back it up.
However, it wasn’t always like that. I regularly used to get lost when I rolled. I’d question whether I was making the right move, I’d have no clear goal in mind, and I regularly get frustrated by my opponents.
That all changed thanks to Roger Gracie…
That changed after I saw Roger Gracie’s incredible performance at the 2009 World Championships. Not only did Roger submit all nine of his opponents, but he did it using the exact same pattern of pass, mount, and submit.
In the months after Rogers phenomenal performance, I devoured footage of matches and to understand how he was so successful. Two things caught my eye.
The first thing was that his mount control is insane. The way he distributed his weight and broke his opponent’s posture is masterful. I still use the mount principles I saw him apply in those fights to this day.
Secondly, regardless of what his opponent tried to do, Roger always followed the same plan. He would get on top, smash the hips to one side, climb to mount, and then finish with a choke.
It was a thing of beauty… but it also got me thinking.
“Jack of all skills master of none, master one skill jack everyone!”
I’d always thought you needed to know how to use all the different positions. Roger did the complete opposite of that. He had mastered a few simple positions, but he could get to those positions regardless of what his opponent tried to do.
It was like an explosion going off in my brain and Jiu Jitsu went from this massive, complicated subject to relatively simple.
With the help of my coach, Braulio, and training partners, I spent the next few years and developing my Game Plan.
And the results came…
And the results start to show. Before I had an effective game plan, I’d always done OK in competition, but NEVER felt comfortable. Once I implemented my game plan, I no longer felt lost when rolling and always knew what I need to do next and where I wanted to get to.
I know how frustrating and complex Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can be, so I want to help you build a rock-solid game plan in less than a WEEK so you can experience the same benefits I did.
Introducing the Virtual Game Planning Mastermind
For the past few years, I’ve held Game Planning Masterminds at my academy. These were unique two-day events limited to 10 people, where I’d help the attendees build a game plan from start to finish.
They were always a lot of fun and the participants always found them incredibly valuable. However, there was one big problem with doing them in-person… I was seriously limited to the number of people I could help at one time.
By holding it virtually, you’ll still get the same content (plus a little extra) and have a game plan ready to go within a couple of days, but and I can help more people at once.
Here’s what you’ll discover during the Virtual Game Planning Mastermind
The goal of the Virtual Game Planning Mastermind is to help you build a high-percentage game plan very quickly. Here’s some of what you’ll learn during the Mastermind:

- Guidance and feedback on your game and where you should focus your energy.
- Identify your one goal no matter the position you find yourself in.
- Drills and training tactics to ingrain your game plan and make it instinctive.
- A high-percentage “Done For You” game plan if you have no idea where to start.
And so much more… my goal is to help you build a complete high-percentage game plan by the time the mastermind is finished.

Frequently Asked Questions
I just started BJJ, is the mastermind for me?
Yes! The faster you get a clear picture of your goal, no matter the position you find yourself, the better. As you improve, the information covered during the mastermind will help your game plan can evolve and grow too.
I’m an instructor, would the mastermind help me teach my students how to build a game plan?
Yes. Once you’ve been through the mastermind, you will have a much clearer idea of how to build a game plan for yourself and others.
I can’t make one of the live sessions will it be recorded?
Yes! Plus you’ll be able to ask questions prior (and during) to each live stream, which I’ll answer during the session.
How many live streams will there be?
As this is the first time I’ve held a virtual Game Planning Mastermind, I’m really not sure. The number of live streams will depend on the attendees and their needs. I suspect there will probably be between 2 – 3, but more will be added if necessary.
When is the first live stream?
Thursday 17th September 2020 at 6 pm (UK time). The links will be posted in the group and emailed to all the attendees.
When will I get access to all the additional content?
The ‘Done For You’ game plan and additional instructionals will be added over the course of the mastermind. This is done as to not overwhelm you and allow you to focus on building your game plan.
